Aromatherapy from Above

I hear my Abba’s still, small voice:

“Let your fragrance fill the air, child. Let My presence in your life be known to those around you in ways that are both mysterious and glorious. You know and even anticipate those wonderful fragrances found in nature that make your heart swell with joy at the season you are in. You’ve waited a long time for the fresh scent of lilacs, haven’t you?

“Let Me unlock a mystery for you today. My presence is full of fragrances that you cannot smell with your natural senses. Your physical limitations prevent you from enjoying the full array of sweet perfumes that abound wherever I am found. Yet your spirit is able to enjoy what your physical senses cannot detect. Oh beloved, there’s so much more to the atmosphere around you than you can ever imagine. So let Me tell you!

Kindness has a most delightful aroma that enlivens the atmosphere, as does goodness, which sweetens with grace. The wafting aroma of gentleness especially soothes those who are angry and hurting. The quiet aroma of peace settles the restless and fretful ones and brings rest to their souls. Faith has an aroma that steadies, invigorates, and uplifts to the point of enabling courage and determination to become activated. Trust derives its aroma from confidence in truth and so has a pure, clear scent. Patience bears an aroma of great worth; its very presence causes obstructions of stubbornness and willfulness to vanish without even leaving a stain. Joy bears a light, effervescence that lifts spirits upward and coaxes smiles where none had the strength to appear. This next one might surprise you: self-control exudes an aroma all of its own but is similar to peace. When the two are blended they expand and delight in ways that refresh and restore balance and well-being. The scent of humility is rare and precious because so few prefer its cost. The musky, earthy aroma of hope is well grounded and enhances the aroma of faith; together, they strengthen those who come into their presence.

“The best aroma of all? That is the deep and abiding scent of love, My child. Love has the most potent aroma of any and is the most enduring. It never fails and is always pure. My love draws from far and wide to bring broken, hurting, and wayward hearts into My embrace.  My love is like no other.

“And so, My child, I would have you spend time in My presence—in holy aromatherapy, if you will—so that you become saturated with these mysterious and lovely aromas found in the Lord Jesus Christ. He alone can satisfy the longings of your weary and battered soul. Breathe deeply and be made whole in My presence. When the aroma of Christ has permeated you, My Spirit will take you to those who need to inhale the glorious aroma of Christ in you. Bear it faithfully and well, beloved, and thereby be a carrier of My presence to those who suffer and choke on the acrid, stifling, repulsive stench of this world.”

  1. Carol, I love pondering the beauty of the fruit of the spirit. And, I so enjoyed imagining the fragrance of this fruit as your post is so beautifully expressed. I am refreshed. Thank you for those lovely words from Daddy.

    Wishing you a beautiful day…
